Mondra is proud to be a founding member of the Global Sustainable Transition Alliance (GSTA) convened by WRAP and Wageningen University & Research
A retailer and its suppliers should be able to use product footprint data to make decisions together. Too often, different methods and repeated data requests make the results hard to compare. Teams spend time reconciling numbers when they need to identify where to act.
This is why Mondra supports the launch of the Global Sustainable Transition Alliance, or GSTA. Convened by WRAP and Wageningen University & Research, the alliance aims to create a global common standard for product footprinting in food and beverage.
A shared foundation would help businesses compare results with more confidence. It would give retailers, manufacturers and suppliers a clearer basis for deciding where to focus their efforts, from product design and ingredient sourcing to emissions reduction across the supply chain.
The Mondra Coalition shares this ambition. It brings food businesses together to develop a consistent approach to product level measurement and data sharing. Its Caretaker Methodology sets out common rules for life cycle assessment, shaped by input from Coalition members and expert review. The goal is practical: produce credible information businesses can use across products and supply chains.
GSTA takes this shared challenge to a global level. The Coalition’s work shows what it takes to turn common methods into usable product data at scale. Both efforts start from the same principle: businesses need a consistent way to measure impact before they can compare options and track progress.
For food businesses, this matters beyond reporting. Better product information helps teams see where emissions sit, assess changes to ingredients or sourcing, and work with suppliers on improvements. It also gives commercial and sustainability teams a clearer view of the consequences of the decisions they make every day.
Mondra looks forward to supporting GSTA’s work and contributing what we have learned through the Coalition. A common approach will succeed when it works for the people supplying data as well as the people using it.
